Oracle fixes 51 flaws

Redwood Shores (USA) – In its fourth Critical Patch Update of the year, due to be released later today, Oracle fixed a total of 51 security vulnerabilities contained in its applications.

According to this preliminary bulletin, 27 bugs affect databases, Oracle’s flagship product, while the others concern application servers, Collaboration Suite, E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise and other applications.

Five of the leaks related to databases and seven of those related to application servers can be exploited remotely without the need for the attacker to authenticate to the remote system. Oracle awarded the most serious vulnerability, on a scale of 1 to 10, a score of 6.8.

Oracle generally releases its cumulative security patches every quarter. The latest update, dating back to last July, has fixed 45 bugs.
