Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered has brought one of the best entries in the series to PlayStation 4, with improved visuals and all the DLC in one package. It’s not the most successful remaster of all time, but the game itself is still a super fun arcade game. One feature that fans of the franchise love is the vehicle customization, and that’s something that Criterion’s Hot Pursuit sadly lacks. However, a big update is about to hit the game that will address this shortcoming.
Yes, a color editor is added to the remaster. As part of the next patch for Hot Pursuit Remastered, you’ll be able to adorn your favorite cars with custom designs. When you’re on the vehicle selection screen, two new icons appear at the bottom right: one takes you to a selection of livery presets and the other allows you to create your own designs. Do you want your Bugatti Veyron to have yellow polka dots and a big pink star on the hood? Have it.
Custom packs will appear in online races, but cannot be shared with other players, so the feature is for personal use and to show off to strangers.
However, it is not the only thing that comes in the update. Were you a little disappointed with the remaster’s performance? Well, there is good news, if you have the right stuff. Those of you who own a PS4 Pro will be happy to know that this update will improve the frame rate and resolution of the game, taking it to “50+ FPS without limits” and 4K. If you’re playing on PS5 via backward compatibility, the game will run at 4K and 60 FPS. To enable these improvements, a new Maximum setting has been added in the options.
Finally, this update includes a wide range of bug fixes, which you can read about here. Overall, it seems like a great update to the game; we certainly can’t wait for it to work better on PS5. Will you go back to the driver’s seat to check these changes? Horn in the comment section below.
