Google is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chrome with a new version of the web browser that features a new interface with new colors, updated icons and tabs with rounded corners and many other changes.
The new look is not only available on Windows 10, macOS, and Linux, but also on Android and iOS. According to the company, “These updates seem simpler and (I hope) will increase your productivity.”
In this new version, one of the most significant visual changes is the new tab system with a new one that includes rounded edges and adjustments to make it easier to see at a glance, even when you have many tabs open in the browser.
In Chrome, the company is also updating and simplifying messages, menus, and even URLs in the address bar.
The address bar (Omnibox) has been redesigned to display the response to the query without having to open another tab. In addition, from version 69, Omnibox will also work to find open tabs, allowing you to go directly to it with “Switch to tab”.
Further improvements can be found in the built-in password manager. In Chrome 69, the administrator will generate and suggest strong passwords automatically when you sign up for a website. The password will be stored in your Google account and then made available on your desktop and mobile devices.
Autocomplete is also getting some improvements, including the ability to fill out addresses, credit cards, and passwords on online forms with greater precision. If you are filling out a form for the first time, the information will be stored in your Google account, which can always be accessed from the Chrome toolbar.
Chrome 69 is also updating the new tab page with options to create and manage shortcuts to your favorite websites with the new Add Shortcut button. And now it is possible to change the background of the tab page with any desired image.
Along with the new visual changes, Chrome version 69 includes a set of new experiments aimed at improving browser memory usage, startup time, latency, and usability. Additionally, for developers, Google offers new CSS features to improve the ability to track performance.
The new version of Google Chrome is rolling out now and it will be a while before everyone receives this update. You can always check for updates at main menu > Helpand clicking on About Google Chrome option.
