WhatsApp is working on a ‘mention badge’ feature for group chats: report

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, is working on a new feature called a “mention badge” for group chats. As of now, the latest version is available in its beta app. WABetaInfo relationship, the WhatsApp feature is available for Android 126.96.36.199 beta. The feature is not visible to users at this time as the messaging platform is still working on the feature which should be rolled out in the future. The feature will come in handy during group chats and if implemented the new mention badge could be used to tag people in a group. For now, only a few beta testers can access it.
To link the WhatsApp Web to the account, users will be asked to use fingerprint or face unlock before scanning a QR code from the smartphone.
Apart from that, WhatsApp has also released a new sticker pack called Taters n tots, available for Android users.

According to the company, this feature will prohibit illegal connections to your WhatsApp account on the web. Once the function is activated, your colleague or friends will not be able to pair their devices with your WhatsApp account without consent and if someone tries to log in without authorization in the web version of the messaging application, a notice will be sent to the smartphone, in which the user can unpair the device from the phone at any time without having to be physically present in front of the office.
