Three million Italians surf from their mobile phones

For those who are used to surfing the Internet with their PC, the mobile phone may seem like a raft. Yet the Italians who live the web exclusively from mobile phones are not few: about 3 million. It is one of the results, certainly the most interesting, highlighted by the surveys conducted by Mobile Next, according to which 35 million mobile phone users, in the Belpaese, use the mobile phone for functions that are not strictly… telephone.

More precisely, according to this research, there are 12.8 million users who are regular Internet users. Less than half, about 6 million, surf occasionally, while there is a large slice of customers (over 16 million) who do not even know what to do on the Internet on their mobile phones.

These latest data – limited to the month of April – relate to a survey on the use of mobile phones (and related services) carried out by Nextplora on a sample of 2,300 users deemed significant.

Users who do not know how to use a mobile phone to surf the Internet, in addition to sending SMS, prefer multimedia applications such as using the integrated cameras / camcorders, to send images or videos via MMS. Still few (but their number is growing) users who use social networking and video-sharing services such as YouTube and MySpace.
