The mobile phone market has a Neo

Neo is the name of the new player that in a few months will make its appearance in the mobile telephony arena. The Arab-British manufacturer (with offices in Dubai and Bingley, West Yorkshire, and a subsidiary in Cyprus) has already presented its first mobile phone: the 808i model, which will act as a battering ram for the Middle Eastern and European markets.

The appearance of a micro television, radio or portable video game hides a Triband GSM / GPRS / EDGE terminal (900/1800/1900 MHz) equipped with a 2-inch 262,000-color 176 × 220 pixel TFT display, 1.3 Megapixel camera, FM radio, multimedia player with MP3-MP4 support, 128 MB internal memory expandable with MicroSD, XHTML browser, Bluetooth connectivity.

It looks small, and indeed it is: it measures 41x67x13 mm and weighs 90 grams. The autonomy declared by Neo is 130 hours in standby and 100 minutes in conversation. Few details have been disclosed so far on its marketing: it is only known that it should land in the Old Continent in April 2007.

And a new range of WiFi-capable 3G phones would be poised to hit stores in the coming months.
