Oracle: I manage Linux myself

Redwood Shores (USA) – Extending its Unbreakable Linux 2.0 initiative, which already includes support and maintenance services tailored to Linux, Oracle has unveiled a tool for managing Linux-based systems.

L’ Oracle Management Pack for Linux which subscribers to the Unbreakable Linux program can download for free from here, is a module for existing Enterprise Manager software that administrators can use to install, deploy and manage patches and updates, monitor system performance, and administer Linux machines in a manner that centralized.

Oracle says its software provides businesses with the same services offered by the Red Hat Network, but at a lower price.

Even the latter product, like those announced in October, is therefore part of the strategy with which Oracle is trying to divert the current customers of the former Red Hat partner to its services.
