Netgear presents its new Skype-phone
Milan – Netgear today announces the launch of a new dual-mode DECT cordless telephone, which offers support for ordinary landline calls and Skype calls over the Internet.
The phone is equipped with DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephony) technology that uses the 1.9 GHz band, avoiding interference from WiFi networks. “Those who use SPH200D – explains Netgear – will no longer have to stand in front of the computer to communicate for free with other Skype users around the world”. The SPH200D terminal offers Skype users an interface to manage the contact list from the display and view the status of other Skype users, allowing them to make and receive calls to and from traditional telephone devices (with SkypeOut and SkypeIn services – still unavailable in Italy).
An Ethernet connector (RJ-45) which connects to a router of a home network and a PSTN connector (RJ11) which connects to a normal telephone socket are integrated in the base station of the cordless telephone. SPH200D is supplied with one terminal and can support up to four cordless terminals. Additional terminals can be purchased separately (additional cordless terminal with Skype SPH150D) together with multilingual support.
