Rhydon is the evolved form of Rhyhorn. They are both Generation I Pokémon (which means they were in the top 150) Pokémon. In Generation IV, Rhyperior was implemented in the franchise, which is the evolved form of Rhydon. However, there is only one way to evolve Rhydon, and it is not the standard way!
How to evolve Rhydon in Pokémon Sword and Shield
Rhydon must evolve through trade and with a specific item in his possession. In this guide, we are going to give you an easy to follow guide to turning Rhydon into the too rare Rhyperior.
Step one: get a Rhydon
To get a Rhydon, you must evolve it from a Rhyhorn. This happens naturally, starting at levels 42 and above. You can undo the evolution as many times as you want, but by doing so, you will have the ability to evolve Rhyhorn at each level. Getting a Rhydon is not difficult, but it can be difficult to level your Pokémon that high!

Step two: get a protector
We’re not saying get a verb form of the word Protector; we say get the article titled Protective. This is a rare item that can only be accessed in two different ways. The different ways you can get them are listed below.
Free protector on route 9
Route 9 crosses the Galar region and connects the cities of Circhester and Spikemuth. The central part of Route 9 has a section called Circhester Bay. You can find a sign for this area, and next to that sign is another sign that offers tips for coaches. Head east of this Instructor Tips panel. Eventually you will discover a hidden shore that houses a Pokeball containing a protective item!
Shop at the BP store
Inside the Pokémon Center, you will find the Poké Mart, which has a dealer inside that sells you items for BP (Battle Points). Battle Points can be earned by defeating Trainers at specific battle locations. In the BP Store you can buy the protector (as many times as you want) for 10 BP. This is the easiest way to get a Protector, but many people are reluctant to spend their hard-earned BP!
Third step: trade
Once you have a protective item and the Rhydon you want to trade in, head to the mall. Make sure to equip the protector’s Rhydon. You have to retain it for evolution to work. Once the Rhydon is exchanged with the Protector, it will evolve into Rhyperior!
