Free GNU / Linux course

Free GNU / Linux course

Milan – A basic course on GNU / Linux will be held in early April organized by the ColorPorpora Humanist Center and divided into 8 lessons “in which – a note reads – participants will practice doing everything they do with Windows or Mac with GNU / Linux and even something more “.

We will then deal with common practices such as correctly installing the video card, sound card, printer, scanner, video camera, digital camera. And how to install, uninstall and update programs from both graphical and console tools (rpm, deb, etc), how to configure the ADSL modem, the network card and how to compile the programs. We will also talk about how to use some Windows programs on Linux, how the GNU / Linux filesystem is organized, how the various devices are hooked up, etc …

“Those enrolled in the course – continues the note – can suggest some topics that I want to discuss in the course. The course is suitable for people who normally do all these operations with Windows or Mac “.
The course is free but, underlines the note, “a minimum contribution is required for the rental of the premises and for the maintenance of the PCs. Furthermore, reciprocity in volunteering is required of the participants, which consists in giving the availability of any other voluntary activity to help others (be it a course, or practical help) “.

The meeting will be held at the headquarters of the Colorpopora Humanist Center, in Milan in the lambrate area of Via Accademia, 53.
